Using this CD-ROM
Adobe Acrobat.
All the documents on this CD-ROM use Adobe's
Portable Document Format (pdf). To read them, you need to install the Acrobat
Reader for your system. The latest versions of the Acrobat reader are located
on this CD in the "ACROBAT" directory. There are versions for Macintosh,
Windows (including Windows 95), DOS, SunOS, Solaris, SGI Irix. If you do not
have the Acrobat reader installed, please do so before accessing data on this
CD.
The Acrobat Reader should be set up as a helper-app in your web browser with
MIME TYPE:application SUBTYPE:pdf EXTENSION:pdf FILETYPE:PDF ACTION:Launch.
Accessing the Indexes
The easiest way to locate documents is to use the references
in these web pages. Documents are organized in a logical hierarchy and you can
click on any reference to retrieve the document.
Alternatively, there are three different Acrobat based indexes you can use.
They are located at root level on the CD, and are designed for convenient
on-screen viewing. Each of these indexes contains hyperlinks to the associated
document.
(The DOS and SGI versions of Acrobat do NOT support the
hyperlinks. For these platforms, use of these web pages is the preferred
navigation technique.)
- NUMINDEX
- Products, sorted by product number. Includes the description and a
reference to the data sheet.
- DOCINDEX
- Gives the title and reference for all documents on the CD, faxback,
databooks, or in print, sorted by topic.
- PRODSEL
- A selector guide to all our products, with key specifications shown.
Each product has a data sheet identified.
Printed Indexes
There are Acrobat documents for the Document
Index and the Product Selector
Guide that can be retrieved from the CD. They contain the same information that is in
the indexes referred to above, but are oriented for
printing on 8.5x11 inch pages.
Direct Retrieval of Documents
All the documents are stored in the directory /docs. The file names are
docid.pdf, where docid is the reference number for the document, and appears in
all the indexes. It is the same number used on the faxback system, also.
